How to read a label
Flip any bottle over. Here are four things worth a look, and what they look like on ours.
1. Fragrance
Many labels end with "Fragrance" or "Parfum," which can stand for a blend the maker doesn't list. Rhino's scent comes from oils we name: orange peel, pine needle, cedarwood and thyme in Citrus Woods.
2. Dyes
Color in the bottle shows up on the label as "CI" numbers or names like Red 4. Rhino's Castile has none. Its golden color is the oils themselves.
3. Preservatives
Look near the end of the list for names you can't picture. Rhino's Castile has no synthetic preservatives.
4. Count and recognize
Read down the list and see how many items you could find in a kitchen, a garden or a field. Rhino Castile Citrus Woods has twelve: coconut, olive and sunflower oil, aloe, shea, a few essential oils, plus the lye and citric acid that turn oil into soap.
