Glassy skin doesn't grip.
A full day of sun, wind, and chalk and your hands feel like they're made of plastic. Or you forgot the hoodie and now your neck is a problem. When your skin is baked out, water is what gets you back out playing.
When your skin is baked out, water is what gets you back.
Sun, wind, and chalk all pull moisture out, and skin that's lost its water goes hard and shiny. Glassy skin has no give, so it skates off holds, splits when it bends, and burns worse next time. Hydrate was made for exactly this. Aloe and hyaluronic acid in a spray that puts moisture back without softening you up or leaving your hands greasy.
Split+ whipped balm handles the chapped, cracked spots that dryness and sun leave behind when they've gone too far. Then cover up next time.
Months out to the night after. Then you do it again.
Prevention is cheaper than repair, and repair sets up the next round of prevention. The loop looks like this.
- 1Months out
Hydrate in the chalk bag, the car, and the bathroom. Skin that's hydrated weekly doesn't go glassy as fast.
- 2Weeks out
Before a sunny trip, Repair nightly so skin goes in with a full tank. Pack the hoodie and the lip balm.
- 3Night before
Repair on the hands. Zinc on the lips. Hoodie by the door.
- 4During
Hydrate between problems the moment skin feels like plastic. Hood up on the approach. Lips again at lunch.
- 5After
Hydrate on anything pink before bed, hands included. Split+ on the knuckle that cracked.
- 6Start again
Cover up next time. Sunburned skin doesn't grip, heal, or recover well, and the hoodie is a one-time decision.

It goes straight to your cart and the page stays put.
01Between problems, after the sun
Spray it back to life.
Hydrate on hands between burns keeps the skin flexible and grippable. On a sunburned neck or shoulders at the end of the day, it's after-sun that absorbs instead of sliding off. Keep one in the chalk bag and one in the car.
02Overnight
Fix what's already cracked.
Split+ whipped balm for the chapped, split, rough spots that sun and dryness leave behind. Goes on thick, stays put, works while you sleep. Zinc lip balm for the lips, which always go first.
03Next time
Cover up once and stop thinking about it.
UPF 50 fabric blocks about 98% of UV and never needs reapplying. The Heaven sun hoodie fits over a helmet. The Zen Rhino rashguard covers water and mat time.

Glassy Skin, Sun Recovery
Shiny skin is skin with the water baked out of it.
The outer layer of skin holds water with a mix of amino acids and salts that dermatologists started calling the natural moisturizing factor in the 1950s. Healthy, it's ten to twenty percent water and it has give. Sun, wind, and chalk strip that water out, and what's left is hard, smooth, and reflective. Glassy. It has no friction because it has no give, and it cracks the first time it has to bend hard.
Sunburn is the same story with inflammation on top. UV damages the cells in the upper layers, the body floods the area to repair them, and the skin that's left afterward is dry, tight, and shedding. That's why a burned neck peels and burned hands won't hold a hold.
Hyaluronic acid was isolated in 1934 and turned out to be the most efficient water-holding molecule in the body, able to bind many times its weight. Aloe has been the after-sun plant since the Egyptians. Hydrate puts both in a spray that absorbs instead of sliding off. Water back in the skin, no grease, and no softening, which is the part that matters if you plan to climb tomorrow.
Three ways it goes wrong. Three fixes.
Sun bakes it.
UV dries the top layer and inflames the ones underneath. Hands, neck, and lips go first.
Fix: Hydrate as after-sun →Wind and chalk finish it.
A windy day and a chalk bag pull out whatever water the sun left. That's the plastic feeling.
Fix: Hydrate between problems →Dry skin cracks.
Skin with no water in it splits the first time it bends hard. Chapped lips, cracked knuckles.
Fix: Split+ overnight →
What getting the water back looks like.
Between burns, a quick spray on the pads and a shake. Skin goes from plastic to leather in a minute. At the car, a spray on the neck and shoulders you forgot about. Before bed, Split+ on the knuckle that cracked and zinc balm on the lips.
Then cover up next time. Sunburned skin doesn't grip, heal, or recover well, and the fix is a hoodie you put on once.

Spray, don't rub
Hydrate absorbs on its own. Rubbing sunburned skin makes it angrier.
Hands too, not just the burn
Glassy hands are the same problem as a burned neck. Spray both.
Lips first
They have the thinnest skin on your body and no oil glands. Zinc balm before you go out.
Cover up next time
Sunburned skin doesn't grip, heal, or recover well. UPF 50 and you stop thinking about it.
