Mountain Biking Skin & Recovery | Rhino Skin Solutions
Bike · Skin is gear

Three hours in and the grips start swimming.

Sweaty palms on a rowdy descent, brake-pump forearms, trail rash, and five hours of sun with no shade on the ridge. Rhino was built for climbers' hands. Turns out riders beat theirs up just as badly, in different places.

Skin is gear
Where this started

Same hands, different handlebars.

Central Oregon is a bike town as much as a climbing town. Phil's Trail, McKenzie River, Mount Bachelor's bike park, gravel out past Smith Rock. The same crew that tested Rhino on rock rode in the afternoons, and they noticed the same things: palms that went slick inside gloves, knuckles that cracked on cold mornings, a forearm that wouldn't unclench after a long descent.

So the kit became a rider's kit. Sweat control the night before so the grips stay put. Repair for the hands and the trail rash. UPF for five hours of exposure. Massage Cream for the quads and the death-grip forearms. Nothing on this page was invented for bikes. It was tested on them.

A trail day, hour by hour

From the coffee to the beer.

Where the hands and legs go wrong during a ride day, and what goes on at each stop.

The night before · 9 PMDry hands show up dry.

Performance or Dry Spray on the palms before bed, no aluminum. Tomorrow the grips stay where you put them.

Trailhead · 7 AMCover up once.

Sun hoodie or rashguard on at the car. UPF 50, no reapplying, fits over pads. Zinc on the lips.

The descent · 11 AMGrip where it counts.

Dry palms inside the gloves, fewer hot spots, more control when the trail gets rowdy. Hydrate at the top if the hands are cooked.

The truck · 2 PMDeal with the rash.

Clean it, Split on the scrapes, tape anything that's going to rub. Repair on chapped knuckles. Hydrate on anything pink.

That night · 8 PMBuy tomorrow's lap.

Massage Cream on quads, calves, and forearms. Ten minutes on the roller. Cups for the knot that won't quit.

Field reports

From the comments.

★★★★★
“Not greasy, rubs right in, smells great, and most importantly, it does an amazing job at repairing the skin.”
★★★★★
“My hands were sweaty enough to be uncomfortable for everyday life, much less hard climbing on slopers. This has been a game changer.”
★★★★★
“Awesome for quickly healing splits on tips or between finger joints. The chapstick size is seemingly bottomless and even the smallest amounts work wonders. A few applications a day heals up the worst splits in a hurry.”
