Rhino Hydrate – Non-Greasy, Aloe-Based Hydrating Spray for Climbers | Enhance Grip & Reduce Dry Fire

Dry fire and glassy skin killing your grip? Rhino Hydrate is a fast-absorbing aloe spray that restores skin elasticity and friction in seconds — spray, dry, climb.

Key Features:

  • Non-Greasy Formula: Lightweight and quickly absorbed, leaving your skin feeling hydrated and ready for action without any greasy residue.
  • Aloe-Based Hydration: Formulated with aloe vera juice to naturally hydrate and soothe your skin, reducing dryness and increasing skin elasticity for better grip.
  • Enhanced Friction: Helps to reduce dry fire and glassy skin, improving friction on climbing holds and ensuring you have the best possible grip.
  • Quick & Easy Application: Simply spray liberally onto your hands before climbing, and let it dry until tacky for optimal performance.

After-Sun Relief:

Hydrate isn't just for grip. The same formula that rescues dry, glassy skin doubles as an excellent after-sun spray: aloe vera juice cools and soothes sun-stressed skin on contact, while sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) pulls moisture back into skin the sun dried out. Mist it on after a long day outside — non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and gentle enough to reapply as often as you need. Hydrate is not a sunscreen; for prevention, pair it with our UPF 50 sun protection gear. For severe or blistering sunburn, see a medical professional.

Directions:

  • Spray liberally onto hands immediately before climbing. Allow it to dry until tacky to achieve the best results.
  • After sun: mist liberally onto sun-exposed skin as needed to cool, soothe, and rehydrate.

Ingredients:

  • Aloe (Aloe Barbadense) Juice
  • Citrus Limon (Lemon) Juice Powder
  • Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil
  • Magnesium Chloride
  • Sodium Hyaluronate

Important Note:

  • Our product might appear brown due to the switch to organic aloe vera powder.

Why Choose Rhino Hydrate?

Your Secret Weapon Against Dry Fire

Ever hit a hold you know you can stick only to skate right off because your skin's been torched to glass? That's dry fire, and it's the silent project killer. Rhino Hydrate was built for exactly this moment.

Our hyaluronic acid-infused hydrating spray delivers instant skin hydration right when you need it: seconds before you pull on. One spray, a quick dry, and your hands go from slick and overtrained to pliable and ready. No grease. No gimmicks. Just better friction, better skin, better sends.

Why Hydration Matters for Your Rock Climbing Grip

Here's what most climbers learn the hard way: dry skin doesn't grip. When your skin loses moisture and elasticity, it turns glassy and rigid, exactly the opposite of what you need on sharp crimps and polished slopers. Proper dry skin hydration keeps your fingertips pliable and friction-ready, so the rubber meets the road (or the rock) every single time.

Rhino Hydrate was formulated with this science in mind. Our blend of organic aloe vera juice, lemongrass oil, hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), and magnesium chloride works together to restore moisture and elasticity without leaving any residue behind. It's lightweight athlete skin care designed specifically for the demands of climbing, not borrowed from some generic lotion aisle.

How to Use Rhino Hydrate

Simple. Spray liberally onto your hands right before you climb. Let it dry until your skin feels pliable. That's it. You're ready to pull.

Use it between burns on your project, at the start of a long gym session, or any time your tips feel papery and worn. Pair it with Rhino Repair for overnight recovery and Rhino Performance for pre-climb conditioning, and you've got a complete skin care system that keeps you climbing longer and harder.

What's Inside

Aloe (Aloe Barbadense) Juice: Deep, natural hydration and skin soothing.

Citrus Limon (Lemon) Juice Powder: Helps balance skin pH.

Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil: Naturally conditioning and refreshing.

Magnesium Chloride: Supports skin barrier function.

Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid): Locks in moisture for lasting elasticity.

Note: Our product may appear brown due to the switch to organic aloe vera powder—that's the good stuff doing its thing.

Made by Climbers. Tested on Real Rock.

Rhino Hydrate was born at Smith Rock, Oregon, where thin crimps and desert air will wreck unprepared skin in a session. We've since tested and refined it with sport, trad, and alpine climbers, plus athletes across disciplines who rely on their hands. When skin is a resource you can't afford to waste, Rhino delivers instant skin hydration that actually performs.

FAQs

Not at all. Rhino Hydrate is specifically formulated to absorb quickly and leave your skin feeling clean and pliable, never greasy. It enhances your rock climbing grip rather than compromising it.

Spray it on right before you climb and let it dry until your skin feels pliable. You can reapply between attempts whenever your skin starts feeling dry or glassy.

Absolutely. Rhino Hydrate works underneath chalk to keep your skin hydrated and elastic. Better base skin means better friction, even after chalking up.

Climbers love it, but it's effective athlete skin care for anyone dealing with dry, overworked hands—CrossFit, gymnastics, weightlifting, obstacle course racing, and more.

Perfect for dry hands!

Out here in Colorado, with it's generally low humidity, I've had huge issues with glass skin—especially on cold, windy days and sports routes with low texture (granite or gneiss) or bouldery starts. Rhino Spit has saved my bacon more than once, and for sure gotten me through sections I would have dry-fired on or had to fight that much harder. I even use it boarding sometimes, when it's a limit project, always to good effect. If you have naturally dry skin, are an older climber, or live in a dry climate, you'd do well to always have some Rhino Spit on hand!

dry hands

I have dry hands. I think it works as I’m holding on to slabs much better now. Or it’s mental :)

Hi there! Thanks for leaving a review for our product. We're glad to hear that Spit has helped with your dry hands and improved your grip on slabs. And even if it's just a mental boost, that's still a win in our books! Keep crushing those climbs!

Super dry hands

I really like the Spit. My hands are very dry and causes the beginning of sessions to be filled with dry fires and overgripping to combat the slick dry hands. the Spit really helps give them some moisture with out and oily feeling. I highly recommend checking it out. P.S. the Spit does freeze if you leave it in your car on a cold night.

Critical for anyone with dry skin!!!

I seriously don't know how I did it without spit. I live in the desert and I have super dry skin. Especially in the winter when the wind is blowing sometimes I can't even hold on to jugs!! The Spit is an absolute game changer and not only makes my climbing way better - it improved my confidence immediately in less than ideal conditions.

FIRE!

I need this stuff to be able to grip my Lattice aluminum training device with my dry, slippery hands. It works great: now I seem stronger.

This product works really well in the gym where the holds are a little bit slick and chalky.

Game changer for super dry, hard skin!

Kind of a preliminary review because I've only had a chance to use it once, but it definitely seemed to help! My skin is very dry and rips/tears like crazy - I can usually only climb a project route once or twice before my skin is too torn to continue. Used this before getting on a very sharp overhanging granite route and after making some big throws I looked at my hands expecting to for sure see some rips. To my surprise there were none and my skin looked and felt super fresh! I'll keep using this for sure.

Works great to balance out performance/dry

This is THE PRODUCT to get if you are experiencing glassy fingertips that can't grip onto holds. Usually this happens to me when the weather gets drier or after I return to gym climbing after an extended outdoor trip on rougher rock. Rhino Spit lets me climb more consistently and feel like I can try my hardest even on days when my natural skin friction is poor. I am on my third or fourth bottle and hope to always have some in supply.

Works amazing for my dry glassy tips.

I have trouble with really glassy skin and this spray helps. I found that it seems to work better if I sand my skin then apply. I would have given it 5 stars but the effects tend to ware off before a full route length.

Most amazing product ever! It literally allowed me to keep trying my project at all fall! I bought 10 large bottles/ if you have dry skin issues this is the only solution!

As someone who has hard, dry, slippery skin, I remain forever grateful that Rhino Spit exists—I'm the king of "dry firing," even in summer when your hands allegedly sweat. I bring Rhino Spit and use it everywhere, from the crag to the gym to my home wall/MoonBoard, and it has given me the edge on all of my hardest sends; I'm now able to get the adhesion I need, especially on slick, flat holds, gym volumes, and slopers. I just spray it on, wait a few minutes, then climb. The "tacky" feeling usually lasts a few minutes until I need to apply again, so more than long enough for a fast redpoint, boulder problem, or a few MoonBoard problems. And I dig the pleasant smell and fact that it's just simple, natural ingredients. No chemical weirdness. This stuff is the bomb-diggity!!! If you have slick skin and dry-fire often, then get some.
