Wrestling Mat Burn and Skin Care: Pass the Skin Check
Wrestling · Skin is gear

Pass the skin check. Make weight. Then wrestle.

No sport is harder on skin than wrestling, and no sport checks it more. Mat burn on the knees and face, cracked hands from the room, dry skin from cutting weight. This is how wrestlers keep skin intact and clean enough to step on the scale.

Why wrestling checks skin

The strictest skin rules in sport, for a reason.

Wrestling is skin on skin on mat for two hours a night in a hot room. Any open spot is a doorway, so the sport built rules around it: skin checks before every meet, and a wrestler with a raw open patch can be held out. Mat burn, cracked knuckles and headgear rub are not just sore. They can cost a match.

The routine wrestlers already know is the right one: shower before you leave the room, cover anything open, keep the skin hydrated so it does not crack during a cut. Rhino makes that routine faster, and makes it to the car when the showers are full.
