Arm Pump Motocross: Dry Palms, Lighter Grip, Faster Recovery
Motocross · Skin is gear

Lap three. Forearms turn to stone. Hands stop working.

Arm pump is the thing every rider searches for and nobody fully beats. Sweaty palms inside the gloves make it worse, blisters at the thumb and palm make the next moto worse. Here is what helps the forearms recover, keeps the grips planted, and keeps the hands in one piece for the whole day.

What arm pump is

Pressure in a muscle that cannot let go.

Arm pump is forearm muscles swelling inside a tight sheath faster than blood can leave. The harder you squeeze the bars, the faster it builds. Wet palms make you squeeze harder, because the grip is sliding. So the sweat problem and the pump problem are the same problem, and the fix starts the night before.

Dry palms let you ride with a lighter grip. A warm forearm between motos moves blood out of the muscle. A roller and cups after the day keep the next race from starting with stone arms. None of this was invented for moto. All of it was tested on moto, by riders who were tired of losing the second moto to their forearms.
