Pickleball Elbow: Forearm Care, Grip and Recovery
Pickleball · Skin is gear

Three games in, the elbow starts talking.

Pickleball is easy to start and easy to overdo. A light paddle, a lot of dinks, a death grip on the handle and too many games in a row, and the outside of the elbow lets you know. Here is how players keep the elbow happy, the grip dry and the paddle hand blister-free.

Skin is gear
Why the elbow hurts

Too many games, too tight a grip.

The pain on the outside of the elbow that pickleball players complain about usually comes from the forearm muscles that grip and lift the wrist, worked hard and often with little rest. A sweaty hand squeezes tighter. More games in a row means less recovery between them. It sneaks up, because each game feels easy.

The routine is simple and adds up. Dry hands so you can hold the paddle lighter. Massage Cream on the forearm before and after you play. A support strap or tape if it's already sore, and a rest day when it asks for one. If it's sharp, swollen, or getting worse, see a physical therapist. The game is better with an elbow that lasts all season.
